Maintains an environment of safety for patients, self and others.
Interprets blueprints, manufacturer's specifications, schematic and wiring diagrams, and written and verbal instructions on all electrical systems and equipment.
Plans new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, provides access for future maintenance, and avoid unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring, consistent with specifications and local, state and national electrical codes.
Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles, and installs EMT, rigid and PVC electrical conduit; power poles and wire mold.
Pulls wiring through conduit.
Splices wires by stripping insulation terminal leads, twisting or soldering wires together, and applying tape or terminal caps and solderless terminals.
Connects wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment; connects power cables to equipment, such as electric range or motor and installs grounding leads.
Maintains control and distribution apparatus such as switches, relays, circuit-breaker panels, emergency generators and related switchgear. Uses pipe and circuit tracing equipment as necessary. When needed, assists other trades with line voltage and low voltage assistance.
Tests continuity of circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components with testing instruments such as ohmmeter, battery and buzzer, and oscilloscope.
Focuses on patient/staff safety needs, as set forth in the Rex Patient Safety Plan, the Environment of Care Manual and our Departmental Procedure Manual.
Education: High school diploma or GED with one year specialty training and minimum of one year experience.
